Community. respect.educating. inquiry. Life in Ms. Escamilla's 5th grade
Cherry Creek had their second annual holiday Minute To Win It assembly. It was such a great time and 3 students from our class were able to participate! As expected it was filled with outrageous and challenging games and lots of laughter and cheering.
I look forward to helping plan this assembly the entire month of December.

We had a joint sledding party with all of 5th grade. It was a blast, and kind of scary. We definitely have some brave kids this year. The kids turned the sledding fun into a competition to see who could make it the furthest. We had gifts to open, starting with our book exchange. We then opened our class gifts which were several games and played them.
Hour of Code is a nationwide initiative by CSE'dWeek and code.org to introduce computer programming to students and encourage them to learn programming skills. Cherry Creek teachers were encouraged to try hour of code in their rooms this week. Out fifth graders were very generous and loaned out their Chromebooks to other classrooms. Here are pictures from our first hour of code and then our hour that we helped the kindergarteners. Hour of code with our Kindergarten buddies. We have been having an awesome time this past week and a half learning about cells. The kids have been rapping about cells, drawing cell diagrams, reading, and looking at cells through a microscope. We are even making a Christmas tree covered in cell ornaments. Check out all of our fun! It is the last day of our Rock Your Socks drive. Students in the school have been donating socks to families in need. Today we get to celebrate by wearing our craziest socks! |
